The people of Akwa Ibom State’s Mbo Local Government Area flocked there in large numbers on Wednesday to welcome Pastor Umo Eno and his team during the PDP campaign rally, which Mr. Moses Ekpo, the state’s deputy governor, described as a carnival.
A cross-section of Mbo stakeholders guaranteed Pastor Eno and other PDP candidates of resounding support from Mbo’s 57,331 voters as the enormous throng applauded.
Pastor Eno was hailed as a man of great compassion, delicate conscience, peaceful temperament, and enterprise who should be backed to lead Akwa Ibom State in the election taking place next month by Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem, Secretary to the State Government and the political leader of Mbo LGA.
Due to the fact that late Chief Joe Ating, the founding State Chairman of the PDP, lived in Mbo, he claimed it to be the “shrine” of the PDP.
Mbo’s state House of Assembly representative, Chief Effiong Johnson, who is running for re-election, predicted that the PDP would win the race handily.
The completion of the Etebi-Enwang Road, the rehabilitation of the Enwang-Ibaka Road, and the location of the Ibom Oil and Gas Solution Hub at Ibaka were all acknowledged by Mr. Asukwo Eyo, Chairman of the Mbo Local Government.
Other Mbo leaders who spoke at the rally included a former Commissioner for Special Duties, Prof. Okon Eminue, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Skill Acquisition Program, Mrs. Alice Ekpenyong, the Chairman of the Mbo PDP Chapter, Mr. Etetim Isemin, the President General of the Oron Union, Bishop Etim Ante, and a businessman, Chief Eyo Okon Edet.
The Deputy Governor, who spoke on behalf of Governor Udom Emmanuel and expressed his admiration for the large turnout, stated that Chief Joe Ating, a native of Mbo, who served as the first Chairman of the PDP in Akwa Ibom State, was greatly honored by the Mbo people’s overwhelming support for the party and his candidates.
He described the development of Mbo before Akwa Ibom State was founded and claimed to have known the elders his entire life to be men of integrity who keep their promise.
The PDP nominee, Pastor Eno, pledged to make Mbo a tourist destination, build a road to the Paramount Ruler’s palace, implement the deep seaport project, make sure Mbo receives its fair share of oil company payments, combat sea piracy in partnership with security agencies, and reopen the Ebughu Fishing Terminal in collaboration with the investor selected by the Federal Government.
The benefits of the Dakkada Global Oil Palm, which is being renovated and has Mbo as one of its three host local government districts, were assured to the residents of Mbo.
Pastor Eno commended the residents of the area for their passionate and unwavering support for him from the start of his governorship campaign, pointing out that Mbo was blessed with everything needed to make it prosperous.
