Akwa Ibom State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has reinstated the suspended Chairman, Mr. Stephen Ntukekpo, and his Deputy, Dr. David Umo Essien, following the resolution of internal issues within the party.

Dr. Cyril Effiong Enemi, the Acting State Chairman of APC, announced the reinstatement during a press conference in Uyo. He explained that the suspension was prompted by allegations of mismanagement of members’ welfare. However, after careful consideration, the party’s leadership resolved the matter and reinstated the affected officers.

Enemi stated, “The substantive Chairman Ntukekpo and his Deputy, Umo Essien, will now return to their positions, while I also return to my former position as the Eket Senatorial District chairman of our party.”

He emphasized that the crises, which had led to factionalism within the party since July 2, had been resolved and prevented from escalating further.

A communique endorsed by the State Executive Council (SEC) of the party and signed by 32 officials expressed confidence in Ntukekpo’s leadership and assured of a united front to ensure the APC’s success in the upcoming general elections.

Additionally, the party’s state chapter extended congratulations to President Bola Tinubu and Senate President Senator Godswill Akpabio as leaders of the party at the national and state levels.

The communique highlighted the measures taken by the SEC to move the party forward, foster peace, and enhance unity at all levels. It included a vote of confidence in Chairman Ntukekpo and a commitment to support his leadership style in maintaining peace and unity within the party.

The SEC resolved all previous disagreements amicably, and warring factions pledged to withdraw statements made on social media platforms that fueled tensions.

With the reinstatement of the Chairman and Deputy Chairman, the APC in Akwa Ibom State aims to consolidate its internal unity and strengthen its prospects of capturing the state in the forthcoming general elections.
