The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, announced the inauguration of the Enoch and Folu Adeboye Dialysis Centre at Immanuel General Hospital in the Eket Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom.
Represented by Pastor Idowu Iluyomade, the Intercontinental Overseer for Christian Social Responsibility, RCCG, Adeboye highlighted the centre’s three new dialysis machines, water treatment plant, and 130 KVA generator.
Adeboye emphasized the RCCG’s significant contributions to Nigeria’s healthcare, revealing a staggering investment of over N61 billion in intervention projects benefiting 154 million people over the past five years. The RCCG currently operates 1,200 dialysis machines across the country, with initial focus on states such as Ogun, Lagos, Oyo, Ondo, Bauchi, Borno, Anambra, Enugu, Akwa Ibom, and Abuja.
The Enoch and Folu Adeboye Dialysis Centre marks the 27th specialized medical intervention by the Love Foundation, covering services such as Intensive Care Units, dialysis centres, cancer screening centres, and Primary Health Centres. Adeboye expressed the foundation’s commitment to establishing dialysis centres nationwide to address the healthcare needs of the less privileged.
Despite having 225 dialysis centres in the country, Adeboye acknowledged the ongoing challenges in meeting the healthcare demands of Nigeria’s 220 million population. The Love Foundation, RCCG’s charity arm, operates in various sectors, including Socials, Education, Health, Media, Business, Art and Culture, Governance, and Sports.
Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom, who inaugurated the dialysis centre, commended the initiative and pledged to establish similar centres in each of the state’s 10 federal constituencies. He directed the Commissioner for Health to ensure the prompt setup of dialysis centres, expressing the urgency to provide accessible facilities for people currently traveling long distances for dialysis.
Governor Eno highlighted his administration’s investment in Primary Health Centres and announced the approval of trained staff deployment to Immanuel General Hospital. He stressed the need to bridge the healthcare gap and improve accessibility to dialysis services across the state.
The State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Augustine Umoh, affirmed the importance of dialysis in managing kidney ailments. He mentioned existing dialysis machines in Ibom Specialist Hospital and General Hospital at Away in Onna Local Government Area, emphasizing the state’s commitment to healthcare infrastructure development.
