Five days after the tragic murder of two elderly brothers in Nnung Iyoho, Afaha Offiong, Nsit Ibom Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, the perpetrators remain at large as police investigations continue.
The victims, identified as Enefiok Micheal Etuk, aged 70, and Ebongeti Micheal Etuk, aged 50, were brutally killed in their residence on Thursday, February 29, around 11:00 PM by unidentified assailants.
Ime Micheal Etuk, the eldest brother who narrowly escaped the attack, recounted the harrowing ordeal where the assailants invaded their family house and fatally attacked his brothers. He described how one brother was killed in the backyard near the kitchen while the other was taken out through a window and also murdered.
Despite efforts to apprehend the culprits, the police have not made any arrests yet. The Police Public Relations Officer in the State, SP Odiko Macdon, confirmed that investigations are ongoing, and the Commissioner of Police has ordered a discreet investigation to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.
The gruesome incident has left the entire community in shock and raised concerns about the growing insecurity in the area. Residents are calling for swift action to address the prevailing security challenges and ensure the safety of the community.
While the investigation continues, the police have assured the public that efforts are underway to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to book. The community remains on edge as they await justice for the senseless killings of the two brothers.
