The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has successfully rescued a lawyer and his niece who were abducted and held hostage in an underground tunnel by kidnappers.
The victims were freed during a police operation following a tip-off. A trending video of the rescue shows police operatives lifting a heavy slab that covered the tunnel where the victims were confined. As they brought the abductees to safety, a voice believed to be that of an officer assured them, saying, “Come out, all of you. You are saved in Jesus’ name.”
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, ASP Nsifon John, stated that the victims are undergoing medical evaluation following their rescue.
The daring operation underscores the police’s commitment to ensuring safety and combating criminal activities in the state.
