NNPC Retail Ltd, a subsidiary of NNPC Limited, has undertaken an empowerment program benefiting over 1,000 underprivileged secondary school students in Lagos, Rivers, and Akwa Ibom States.

The program focused on providing essential school supplies to students in need.

The beneficiaries of this year’s empowerment initiative were selected from various schools, including Omole Senior Grammar School in Lagos, Community Junior Secondary School in Amadi-Ama, Government Secondary School in Ngo, and Community Secondary School in Ogbele in Rivers State, as well as St. Peter & Paul Comprehensive Catholic School in Akwa Ibom State. The students received school supplies such as backpacks, books, writing materials, sandals, and school uniforms.

This initiative is a result of a partnership between NNPC Retail Ltd and Evolve, a non-profit organization affiliated with Pacegate Limited and Pacegate Energy & Resources Limited (PEARL). The program’s goal is to provide school supplies to students and teach them heartfulness relaxation techniques to promote self-awareness and self-care.

Huub Stokman, the Managing Director of NNPC Retail Limited, emphasized the company’s commitment to empowering the girl child, ensuring they have the resources needed to unlock their full potential. Stokman highlighted the organization’s dedication to advocating for increased girl child education and empowerment while collaborating with esteemed partners like Pacegate’s Evolve.

Stokman shared words of encouragement with the students during the presentation ceremony, urging them to make the most of the knowledge provided by their teachers and schools, as it would be invaluable in achieving their goals. He encouraged the students to embrace learning, set high goals, and strive for their personal best.

NNPC Retail Limited, previously known as OVH Energy Marketing Limited, has been actively involved in supporting education by adopting and assisting five schools across Lagos, Rivers, and Akwa Ibom states for three consecutive years. Through its partnership with Evolve, NNPC Retail Ltd has committed to adopting and supporting more schools across the country and plans to expand its reach to two additional states in 2024. This initiative demonstrates the company’s dedication to fostering education and empowerment among underprivileged students.
