Jummai Damisa-Babson, the newly appointed Comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service in Akwa Ibom State, has officially assumed duty, succeeding ACG Francisca Dakat.

The handover ceremony, marking her assumption as the 22nd Comptroller of Immigration Service in the state, took place at the State Command Headquarters in Uyo on Wednesday.

Damisa-Babson, a native of Borno State, holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Abuja and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language from the University of Maiduguri.

She is a member of the 24th Superintendent Basic Course and 11th Command and Staff College Course, having joined the Immigration Service in 1989. Throughout her career, she has served in various capacities in different states, including Lagos, Kogi, Anambra, and the Service Headquarters in Abuja.

In her inaugural address to officers and personnel of the Command, Comptroller Damisa-Babson acknowledged the landmark transformation and efficient resource management under her predecessor.

She expressed her commitment to continue positive changes that would contribute to fulfilling the constitutional responsibilities of the Nigeria Immigration Service.

Emphasizing the importance of upholding the values of the Service, Damisa-Babson urged officers to rededicate themselves to their duties, emphasizing the need for effective service delivery.

It’s worth noting that in December 2023, President Bola Tinubu approved the appointment of Adepoju Wura-Ola as the substantive Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, following her acting capacity role since June 1, 2023. This information was conveyed in a statement by Jaโ€™afaru Ahmed, the Secretary of the Civil Defence, Fire, Immigration, and Prisons Services Board Civil Board.
