The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has appointed CP Ayilara Waheed Adedamola as the new Commissioner of Police for the Akwa Ibom State Police Command.
According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Odiko Macdon, on Wednesday, CP Adedamola replaces AIG Olatoye Durosinmi, who has been reassigned to AIG Zone 2, Lagos.
CP Adedamola, the 32nd Commissioner of Police for Akwa Ibom State, officially commenced his duties and held an inaugural meeting with senior officers of the Command. He expressed his commitment to operating an open-door policy to enhance policing in the state.
The new Commissioner of Police brings a wealth of experience to his role, holding a Law degree (LL.B) (Hons) from the University of Ibadan, a BL from the Nigeria Law School, Lagos, and a Master of Law (LLM) from the University of Lagos. He joined the Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police on May 18, 1992, and has served in various capacities, including Assistant Commissioner of Police at the Police Mobile Force Office in FHQ Abuja, Deputy Commissioner of Police Operations in Oyo State Command, and Deputy Commissioner of Police at the State Criminal and Investigations Department in Panti, Lagos. Prior to his appointment in Akwa Ibom, he served as the Acting Commissioner of Police in Lagos State.
In his address, CP Adedamola emphasized the importance of professionalism among officers and pledged to deliver satisfactory police services to the people of Akwa Ibom. He called for the cooperation of all stakeholders in ensuring peace and security in the state.
