Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Umo Eno, has attributed his electoral success to the people’s belief in continuity, expressing gratitude for their overwhelming support in ensuring the sustained progress of the state.
Reflecting on his administration’s achievements during a broadcast marking the 37th anniversary of the state’s creation, the governor emphasized the significant strides made across various sectors.
“Because you, the people of Akwa Ibom, believe in continuity, you massively voted for me last year to continue the trajectory of growth and development initiated by my predecessors,” Governor Eno stated. He acknowledged the foundational work of past leaders, including Obong Victor Attah, who laid the groundwork for development, Senator Godswill Akpabio’s transformative infrastructure projects, and the corporate management approach brought by former Governor Udom Emmanuel.
Highlighting the **Arise Agenda**, Governor Eno reaffirmed his commitment to improving the lives of Akwa Ibom residents by focusing on poverty alleviation, rural development, and boosting educational and healthcare infrastructure. He noted that nearly 18 months into his tenure, the state’s growth fundamentals remain “rock-solid,” with peace and security maintained, attracting investments to the region.
A key focus of his administration, he said, remains the **agricultural revolution**, aimed at achieving food security and reducing the high cost of staple foods. Through initiatives such as **AK-Cares**, the government has distributed seedlings and agricultural inputs across the state, with hopes for a bountiful harvest in the coming season. He encouraged more residents to return to farming, citing the rise of farms like Aviclaire in Abak and Black Rock farms as positive examples of this agricultural push.
Governor Eno also provided updates on infrastructure projects, revealing that **60 Arise Road Projects** have been initiated, including flood control systems and road constructions spread across the 31 local government areas. He noted that some projects have been completed, such as the **Naira Atiku Abubakar Flood Control Tunnel** and the **Afia Nsit-Eket Erosion Control Project**.
The governor reiterated the administration’s commitment to enhancing the lives of rural dwellers through the **One Project per Local Government Initiative**, which includes the development of primary health centers, schools, and road projects.
In his concluding remarks, Governor Eno underscored the importance of peace in attracting investments and positioning Akwa Ibom as a preferred destination for investors. “Akwa Ibom remains an oasis of peace, and this is why investors continue to choose our state as their preferred destination,” he affirmed.
