Mr. Udom Emmanuel, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, has warned media outlets against dramatic reporting that could de-market the state.
He spoke at the launch of Spectrum TV, the state’s first privately owned television station.

Governor Emmanuel charged the management of the TV broadcast station and the TAF Media Group’s head office in Ibiaku Uruan to respect excellent broadcast journalism norms for the state’s sustained unity and progress.

The Governor praised Mr. Tony Afia, Chairman of TAF Media Group, and his whole management team for establishing the first privately held television station in Akwa Ibom and Cross River states, following pioneering the introduction of private radio stations in the two areas.

“Your entrepreneurial attitude is something I admire greatly. I admire your bravery in taking this risky move. I like people that have a clear aim and work hard to achieve it. I also admire folks who have a track record of hard work,” he continued.

He appealed to the inhabitants of Uruan for patience and understanding, noting that efforts are being made to complete the Nduetong-Ibiaku Uruan road, which goes to the Broadcast Station.

Governor Emmanuel praised the project’s progress, saying that the construction firm was taking advantage of the weather to speed up work, particularly at the bridge, and directing the supervisory Ministry of Works and Fire Service to push for more efforts to complete the project on time.
