The paramount rulers of Akwa Ibom State’s 31 Local Government Areas have praised Governor Udom Emmanuel for embarking on life-changing initiatives and leaving the state in a better position when he steps out on May 29.
The royal fathers made the remarks on a visit of projects in Uyo, Ibesikpo Asutan, and Uruan LGAs, noting that Gov. Emmanuel has used state resources wisely and left lasting legacies for the people.
Led by the President General of the Akwa Ibom Traditional Rulers Council, His Eminence, Ntenyin Solomon Etuk, the royal fathers also visited the Victor Attah International Airport, the Nsit Atai – Okobo dual road project, the 20km Airport Road expansion project, the General Hospital, Ituk Mbang, the International Emergency Response Center and Molecular Laboratory at Ituk Mbang.
The 10-lane ring Road in Uyo, the Anua Mbak Ishiet Road and the 1km flyover at Ikot Oku Ikono, the Sampson Udo Idiong dual highway, the International Worship Center, and the Dakkada Towers were also inspected.
The Commissioner for Special Duties, Dr Bassey Okon, and the Project Consultant, Engineer Francis Uwah, told the monarchs at the Victor Attah International Airport Smart Terminal Building, which was almost ready for inauguration, that the airport was equipped with the best automated and digital facilities found nowhere else in the country.
The Special Assistant to the Governor on Research and Documentation, Mr Essien Ndueso, who introduced the monarchs to the respective project sites, intimated to the royal fathers that the hospital in Ituk Mbang was among the 13 secondary health care facilities provided by the Governor in Akwa Ibom State and added that Governor Emmanuel also constructed several roads and bridges across the State to boost economic activities in the State.
Speaking at the Anua-Mbak-Ishiet road, the Paramount Ruler of Uruan, Edidem Cosmas Nkanga, said his people were happy that the campaign slogan of several years has ended in Governor Emmanuel’s tenure.
This was echoed by the Paramount Ruler of Uyo, Edidem Sylvanus Okon, who said Uyo has benefited from that road and several roads during Governor Emmanuel’s tenure, warranting a verdict of 99% for the administration.
He said that several roads in Uruan have now been constructed to open up rural communities, adding that visitors and other traders now access the popular Ishiet market with ease.
At the Dakkada Towers, the project consultant, Engr Francis Uwah, led the royal fathers to the top floor of the complex where they prayed and asked God to bless the Governor.
Speaking with reporters, the Chairman of the State Traditional Rulers Council and Paramount Ruler of Nsit Ubium, Ntenyin Solomon Etuk, said the trip was for them to have first-hand knowledge of projects executed by the Government.
According to him, such would enable them to relate more effectively with their subjects on the good intentions of the administration and went on to commend Governor Emmanuel for performing creditably well.
The Secretary of the Traditional Rulers Council, Mr Emmanuel Umontuen, represented the Commissioner For Local Government And Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr Frank Archibong.
