Former President Jonathan Inaugurates Projects, Commends Governor Umo Eno’s Leadership

Former President Goodluck Jonathan recently inaugurated several projects in Uyo, the capital city of Akwa Ibom State, as part of the celebrations marking Governor Umo Eno’s 60th birthday.

Among the projects commissioned were a 1.3-kilometer underground concrete flood control tunnel, the reconstruction of a section of Atiku Abubakar Way with walkways, drainage, solar street lights, and the reconstruction of the adjoining 1-kilometer Afaha Ube road.

Dr. Jonathan praised Governor Umo Eno for his leadership achievements, particularly in prioritizing the needs of the people. He commended the governor’s initiative in completing significant projects that positively impact the lives of residents within his first year in office.

Jonathan emphasized Governor Umo Eno’s proactive approach, especially in addressing issues like flood alerts by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency, urging the people of Akwa Ibom to remain vigilant against antisocial elements and vandalism of public infrastructure.

In his response, Governor Umo Eno expressed gratitude to Former President Jonathan, his predecessor Governor Udom Emmanuel, the people of Akwa Ibom, and well-wishers for their support on his birthday. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to utilizing the state’s resources for the betterment of the people.

The governor highlighted the importance of both soft and hard infrastructure in improving the standard of living, promoting rural development, and providing opportunities for the youth.

Governor Umo Eno described the Atiku Abubakar Road and drainage interventions as responses to the community’s needs, emphasizing the role of faith and circumstance in shaping his administration’s projects.
