Former First Lady Dame Patience Jonathan and Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Gen Christopher Musa have expressed their deep sorrow over the passing of Akwa Ibom State’s First Lady, Pastor Patience Umo Eno.
In a statement released by Mrs. Jonathan’s Chief Press Secretary, Godwin Mbachu, condolences were extended to Governor Bassey Eno, the government, and the people of Akwa Ibom State.
Dame Patience Jonathan remembered the late Mrs. Eno as a devoted minister and virtuous woman dedicated to the service of God and humanity. She highlighted the impact of Mrs. Eno’s pet project, “The Golden Initiative for All,” which has positively affected countless lives. “I am saddened by the news of the sudden death of the wife of the Akwa Ibom State governor, Mrs. Patience Umo Eno. She will surely be missed by all. I pray that the Almighty God grants her soul eternal rest and provides the bereaved family with the fortitude to bear this loss,” Jonathan stated.
Similarly, Gen Christopher Musa, representing the Armed Forces of Nigeria, conveyed his condolences to Governor Bassey Eno and the entire Akwa Ibom community following the unexpected passing of his wife. In a statement from Acting Director Defence Information Brig Gen Tukur Gusau, Musa expressed that the news of this tragedy struck the military community like a shock wave.
“A significant void has been created in your family and the state, given the indispensable and invaluable roles she played, especially since the beginning of your administration. Patience Umo Eno was not just a wife but a trusted and dependable ally to you,” he noted. The CDS emphasized that she would be fondly remembered for her efforts to uplift the lives of children, youth, and vulnerable individuals through her initiative, ‘Golden Initiative for All (GIFA).’
While acknowledging the pain of her sudden departure, Musa urged the governor to find comfort in the knowledge that, as mortals, we must one day leave this earthly existence, but we hold hope beyond this life.
