The immediate past governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel, has clarified misconceptions about his relationship with his successor, Umo Eno.
During a Christmas worship service at United Evangelical Church (QIC) in Awa Iman, Onna LGA, Udom Emmanuel addressed the notion that he has fallen out with Governor Umo Eno.
Emmanuel emphasized that he is conscious of avoiding actions that could lead to friction with his successor. He stated that he prays every day for Governor Eno to succeed and expressed his commitment to providing any support that would enable the current governor to succeed.
Governor Eno, who led state council members and other stakeholders to the service, described Udom Emmanuel as an exceptional leader. He highlighted that since assuming office, his predecessor has never pressured him in any way, and he is the one seeking Emmanuel’s advice.
Eno announced that the Akwa Ibom State International Christian Worship Center, established during Emmanuel’s tenure, is ready and will be used for the New Year’s State Interdenominational Service on January 2, 2024. The center will host daily prayers, with different pastors and teams taking turns to pray for the state and the country at the sacred altar.
