The newly appointed governing board of the Federal College of Education (FCE), Iditep, Akwa Ibom State, led by Hon. Cletus Obun, commenced its duties with a series of inaugural visits on Monday, September 1, 2024.
Obun, a former lecturer and lawmaker, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve as the pioneer chairman, thanking President Bola Tinubu for his appointment and praising Senate President Godswill Akpabio for his support.
Obun also commended Senator Otuekong Ita S. Enang for his role in establishing the institution, describing him as the “architect” of the college. Enang pledged his continued support, vowing to make the project a success for the benefit of the community.
In attendance at the reception ceremony were Provost Dr. Edem Ntuk and his management team, along with other governing council members. The council also paid courtesy visits to Senator Enang, the village council, and the paramount ruler of Ibiono Local Government Area, His Majesty Okoko-Udosoro Inyang, who promised to ensure the safety of the college community.
Hon. Moses Essien, representing Ibiono in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, lauded the college’s establishment and urged inclusivity in employment opportunities. Following the reception, the board inspected the college’s facilities and outlined strategies for its future growth and operations.
