Women in Akwa Ibom State have been encouraged to emulate the virtues of Biblical women who exhibited exemplary devotion to God, peaceful conduct, and love for one another.
The call came from the Wife of Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Patience Umo Eno, during the ‘Women Rally 2023’ at Qua Iboe Church, Eket Township Superintendency.
The event, organized by the women’s fellowship of the church, had the theme “A Devoted Woman.” Pastor Patience Umo Eno, who was the keynote speaker at the event, highlighted several women in the Bible, including Mary, Esther, Ruth, and Priscilla, as role models for their devotion to God and service to humanity. She emphasized that their stories serve as examples of unwavering faith and dedication to God.
Pastor Patience Umo Eno explained that the theme of the conference, “Devoted Woman,” is commendable because the Bible is filled with accounts of devoted individuals who exemplify unwavering faith and dedication to God. She pointed to examples such as Ruth’s commitment to family, Mary’s submission to God’s plan, Esther’s fearless advocacy, and Priscilla’s dedication to ministry. These stories serve as reminders of the power of unwavering devotion in one’s spiritual journey and encourage women to cultivate a deeper sense of devotion to God and those around them.
The First Lady also mentioned that miracles often abounded when women gathered in the Bible and expressed optimism that the same would be the case at the end of the Women’s Rally.
The event included speeches by Rev. Ime Matthew Obong, Pastor of Qua Iboe Church, and Deaconess Ekaette Eshiet, President of Qua Iboe Church, Eket Township Superintendency Women Fellowship. Both expressed their gratitude for the event and encouraged women to remain devoted to God regardless of their situations or positions.
The Eket Local Government Council Chairman, Hon. Akan Tommy, praised Pastor Patience Eno for her attendance and for sharing her thoughts with the women, encouraging them to remain committed to service in the Lord’s vineyard.
The high point of the event was the presentation of a portrait to the Governor’s wife by the President of the Qua Iboe Church Women Fellowship, Eket Township Superintendency. The event was attended by various female stakeholders in the state.
The rally aimed to bring women from various congregations together for fellowship, encouragement, and a reminder of the importance of devotion to God and service to humanity, and it served as a platform for women to draw inspiration from the devotion of Biblical women in their own lives.
