The principal of Presbyterian Senior Science College, Ididep, Akwa Ibom State, Dr. Nse Sunday Umoh, has been suspended following allegations of poor feeding conditions at the school.

This action was announced by the Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Idongesit Etiebet, after a viral video showed students being served inadequate and non-nutritious meals. Condemning the incident, Etiebet ordered a comprehensive investigation into the schoolโ€™s boarding facilities and similar conditions across the stateโ€™s 25 public boarding schools.

The investigation, overseen by the permanent secretaries of the Ministry of Education and the State Secondary Education Board, will examine hostels, dining halls, kitchens, recreation spaces, menus, and sanitation.

Etiebet affirmed the stateโ€™s commitment to maintaining minimum standards for public school facilities to safeguard the wellbeing of students and staff. She emphasized that while the stateโ€™s free education policy covers tuition, student welfare remains a government priority, urging parents to support their children.
