Elders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State have reaffirmed their unwavering support for the administration of Governor Umo Eno.
The elders, organized under the banner of the Akwa Ibom State PDP Elders Council, reiterated their commitment to assisting the governor in realizing his programs and projects as part of the A.R.I.S.E Agenda.
Amb. Assam Assam, SAN, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the council, made this pledge during the formal inauguration of the PDP Elders Council. He emphasized the importance of maintaining unity within the council and across the state to facilitate development.
Assam expressed satisfaction with Governor Eno’s administration, noting that it has set a positive template for the state’s development in the short time he has been in office.
Speaking on behalf of the elders from Ekpene Senatorial District, Senator Emmanuel Ibok Essien assured that they would continue to work for the success of Governor Eno and provide ongoing support to the PDP. He acknowledged the governor’s accomplishments in the district and anticipated increased support in the 2027 election.
Senator Essien said, “We will do better in 2027 than what we did in 2023. Let us work in unity and support the government. We should not run from the government; we should encourage the governor to do more in the state.”
Bishop Samuel Akpan, representing Eket Senatorial District, affirmed their commitment to supporting the Akwa Ibom Elders Council and contributing to the success of Governor Eno’s administration.
Elder T. O. Akpan, representing Uyo Senatorial District, commended the formation of the elders’ council and expressed excitement about being part of this initiative. He urged fellow elders to maintain their role, emphasizing the need for maximum support to ensure the development of Akwa Ibom State.
Obonganwan Grace Ekong, speaking on behalf of the women, assured of women’s continued support for the PDP and Governor Eno. She encouraged the elders to collaborate with grassroots communities to garner more support for the PDP.
