The government of Akwa Ibom State has denounced recent remarks made by the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate Bola Tinubu against the state’s governor, Udom Emmanuel, while the party was holding its primary election in Uyo.
On Monday, January 30, the former governor of Lagos insulted the state’s governor in front of his followers and threatened to send reptiles to break into the governor’s lodge and grab the property.
The state administration responded to Tinubu’s remarks on February 1 by criticizing his conduct and labeling his remarks “unwarranted, uncharitable, and archaic.”
Tinubu’s activities, according to the state’s commissioner for information and strategy, Ini Ememobong, who released the statement, are cause for alarm.
The state administration requested a public apology from Tinubu because they felt he was acting in an immature and uncharacteristic manner for someone his age.
The statement also noted that Tinubu had traveled freely using the state-run airport and that the government had sanctioned the usage of the state-owned Nest of Champions for the APC Presidential Campaign.
It stated that Tinubu’s remarks, which referred to the governor as a “child” and questioned his legitimacy, were “unpresidential and undemocratic” and that the governor had been legitimately elected.
The state’s government further urged all residents to disregard Tinubu’s comments and carry on living and conducting business in peace with other Nigerians residing in the state.
Additionally, it was claimed that rather of disparaging and threatening the residents of the state, Tinubu should concentrate on responding to inquiries about his “nebulous history and his vague manifestos.”
The state government stated that it views the Nigerian presidential election as a very serious business.
