Governor Pastor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has joined global leaders in celebrating journalists on the occasion of the 2024 World Press Freedom Day.
In a solidarity message conveyed by his Chief Press Secretary, Ekerete Udoh, the Governor expressed gratitude to the media for their unwavering support and constructive engagement since the inception of his administration nearly one year ago.
Governor Eno commended journalists for embracing the state government’s vision of ARISE and reflecting it in their reportage. He acknowledged the vital role of the media in fostering accountability, promoting public discourse, and highlighting issues of societal importance.
“We value constructive criticism and your ability to bring attention to matters of public interest, which is the essence of your esteemed profession,” Governor Eno stated.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to collaborating with the media in advancing the ARISE vision, which aims to uplift the state and its people through unity, fraternity, and shared values. Governor Eno emphasized the significance of unity in diversity, echoing the sub-theme of this year’s World Press Freedom Day, and affirmed his administration’s dedication to promoting bipartisanship in governance.
