Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Information, Comrade Ini Ememobong, has achieved a significant milestone by being elected as a member of the governing council of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), along with 16 other accomplished professionals.
Ememobong’s election success saw him garner a total of 867 votes, positioning him as the second-highest vote recipient, closely following Dr. Sule Yau Sule who secured 868 votes, thus securing their positions as esteemed members of the NIPR governing council.
The elections took place over a span of time encompassing Thursday night and Friday morning, coinciding with the Annual General Meeting/Conference of the Institute named Abuja2023. The conference revolved around the theme of “Leadership, Public Relations, and Value Creation.”
Addressing the outcome of the election, Chief Casca Ogosu, the Chairman of the electoral committee, hailed the substantial and unparalleled turnout of the 2023 election, underscoring its historical significance for the NIPR. A remarkable 28 candidates contested for the 17 council membership positions.
Initially, 29 candidates expressed interest, but one candidate subsequently withdrew, leaving 28 contenders vying for the coveted council seats. The election process was supported by 1050 accredited voters, reflecting a strong commitment to shaping the future of the NIPR through this democratic process.
