The Civil Liberties Organisation (CLO) in Akwa Ibom State has issued a call to action directed at President Bola Tinubu and governors across the nation, urging them to take proactive measures to tackle the growing challenges of economic hardship and insecurity.

In a statement endorsed by the state’s CLO chairman, Barrister Godknows Njoku, and Vice Chairman, Comrade Eridiong Obong, the organization expressed deep concern over the current state of the economy and the rising incidence of violent crimes nationwide.

Highlighting the distressing trend of hardship-induced suicides occurring across the country, the statement underscored the urgent need for effective interventions to alleviate the suffering of Nigerians struggling to meet their basic needs.

“The escalating hunger exacerbated by soaring inflation rates has reached intolerable levels, posing a grave risk of civil unrest. It is disheartening to witness a stark contrast where the majority of our politicians enjoy opulence while the masses endure poverty and hunger,” the statement emphasized.
