The Akwa Ibom State Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Sector Bill was signed into law by Governor Udom Emmanuel, who has received praise from the locals.
Stakeholders at the second Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Media Roundtable in Uyo provided the most recent praise.
The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Ini Ememobong, spoke at the event, which was put on by IbomWASH+, and praised the support shown to WASH Udom Emmanuel, which was demonstrated by his assent to the bill. He emphasized the importance of raising knowledge of the legal requirements through effective publicity.
Ememobong, the special guest at the event, stressed the importance of water and sanitation to the survival matrix and the need for the general public to understand the legal framework of the WASH sector law in order to know their rights on matters pertaining to water resources, particularly those in rural communities.

Ememobong applauded IbomWASH+ for striving to actualize the WASH Sector Law and thanked members of the Ibom WASH Media Committee for accepting to work for the benefit of society in a statement made through the Director of Public Relations in the Ministry, Mrs. Grace Akpan.
Prof. Gabriel Umoh, Project Director of IbomWASH+, praised the state government for enacting the measure into law in his welcome remarks.
In a message of goodwill, Edo Etuk, the managing director of Akwa Ibom Water Corporation, made a suggestion that, with the law, the industry’s murky regions would be investigated in order to better the water resources available to satisfy the demands of the population.
