The All Progressives Congress, APC, Akwa Ibom State has launched its governorship campaign council, known as the Akan Udofia/Victor Antai Governorship Campaign Council, with less than five weeks till the Nigerian governorship election.
This follows a protracted legal dispute with Senator Ita Enang, one of the candidates for governor, who took the party’s nominee to court to contest his affiliation with the party.
The gubernatorial candidate, Akanimo Udofia, acknowledged in a statement issued by the Campaign Council’s Director of Electronic and Print Media, Anietie Ekong, that the road ahead would not be simple, but he expressed optimism that the party would prevail with members’ commitment and hard effort.
He also dismissed the allegation by the Akwa Ibom State government that the APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu insulted the people of the State.

He claimed that when Tinubu pledged to give the State a deep sea port that would change the people’s fortunes, he did it with the best of intentions for the Akwa Ibom people.
Additionally addressing, Obong Steve Ntokekpo, the State Chairman of the APC, encouraged the populace not to be scared by anyone since the party controls the Federal Government and would go to great lengths to defend its members.
Mr. Don Etim, the Director-General of the Campaign Council and a former Commissioner for Works in the State, reacted on behalf of the Campaign Council members and exhorted them to be proud of their candidate since he was free of any scandal and would not act as anyone’s go-between.
