The President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, CON, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to the government and people of Akwa Ibom State on the occasion of the state’s 37th anniversary.
In a message conveyed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, Akpabio praised the steadfastness, unity, and cooperation demonstrated by Akwa Ibomites over the years.
“Today, we celebrate a remarkable milestone—the 37th anniversary of Akwa Ibom State. It has been a fulfilling journey, despite the challenges faced along the way. Over the past 37 years, we have proven that Akwa Ibom truly lives up to its name as the ‘Land of Promise,'” Akpabio remarked.
On behalf of the Senate, his family, and his constituents, Akpabio extended his warmest congratulations to Governor Umo Eno, the state government, and the people of Akwa Ibom for their collective achievements over the years. “Akwa Ibom stands as a united entity with significant developmental strides,” he added.
Reflecting on the state’s history since its creation on September 23, 1987, Akpabio highlighted the remarkable progress and resilience displayed by Akwa Ibomites. “As a former governor of the state for eight years, I had the privilege of contributing to the development of our people. I am grateful for the confidence you placed in me during that time,” Akpabio noted.
He also acknowledged the efforts of past governors and others who have served the state in various capacities, commending their contributions to Akwa Ibom’s growth. Akpabio specifically lauded Governor Umo Eno for his inclusive and visionary leadership, which continues to drive the state’s progress.
“As we mark this important occasion, I urge my fellow Akwa Ibomites to continue supporting those of us in positions of authority, including Governor Umo Eno’s administration, as we work together for the brighter future of our beloved state,” Akpabio emphasized.
The Senate President concluded his message with a call for the anniversary to inspire renewed hope, unity, and progress for all Akwa Ibomites, wishing the state a happy 37th anniversary.
