The 19th All Nigeria Editors’ Conference (ANEC) commenced in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State, with the participation of over 300 media executives and senior editors.
The five-day event focuses on the theme “Stimulating Economic Growth, Technological Advancement: The Role Of The Media.” It aims to address the economic and technological challenges in Nigeria and provide solutions.
The conference features economists, technology experts, and media professionals who will discuss issues related to media sustainability and the perceived existential threat posed by Big Tech. Eze Anaba, the President of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE), stated that the event provides an opportunity to discuss challenges facing the journalism profession and propose solutions to enhance its practice in the country.
Anaba also announced the launch of the NGE Editors Trust Fund during the conference, fulfilling a promise made during the campaign preceding the last biennial election of the Guild.
The Oku Ibom Ibibio and President General of the Akwa Ibom Supreme Council of Traditional Rulers, His Eminence Nteyin(Dr.) Solomon Daniel Etuk, welcomed the editors and guests to the state. He expressed appreciation for the editors’ commitment to upholding high moral and ethical journalism practices for the advancement of Nigeria’s political and economic landscape.
